What is the role of an Energy Advisor?

  1. DESIGN STAGE
    • Model the home in Hot2000 (NRCan’s energy modeling software) from the plans provided by the Architect or Designer. Give recommentdations on various scenarios to meet Step Code and Criteria required by municipality.
  2. PRE-PERMIT
    • Prepare documents for submission and Building Permit. Report details Compliance Path, building Assemblies, Systems, Predicted Energy Consumption (GJ/Year), Step Code compliance and any optional certifications.
  3. BUILD
    • Pre-drywall Airtightness Test for Homes (PATH). Record blower door test information. Work with on-site team to seal home for air-tightness and submit Compliance Sheet for Insulation Inspection (if required).
  4. FINAL INSPECTION
    • Post construction blower door test. Create House Perfrmance Report and procide copy for the building inspector (if required). Certify home with NRCan and provide Energuide Rating Sticker to homeowner (through our affiliated service organization). 

Effective May 1, 2023, there are some changes that will affect building permit applications.
